Job Description


The Machine Operator 2 nd shift is responsible for the machining of Optical parts. The role includes working from verbal and formal instructions with coating, milling and routing machinery. Must be focused, detail oriented, follow directions well and learn quickly. Must communicate clearly in English. The hours are from 1: 30pm-10pm and the pay rate is $23.00.
Job duties:
Read and understand production travelers, drawings and associated work instructions
Prep and prepare raw materials
Operate (load, adjust and unload) coating chamber
Perform mechanical/visual inspection in accordance with acceptance test plans (ATP)
Document test results
Operate both conventional and CNC-driven mill and router
Clean and inspect work after completion of each operation and/or completed job to ensure it is complete and free of defects
Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on machines and tools
Responsible for documenting and notifying supervisor of any product or fabrication discrepancies
Complete housekeeping around work areas as assigned
Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
Skills, education, and experience requirements:
Previous glass fabrication, cutting, grinding and polishing is a plus
Experience with clean-room working practices.
Experience in set-up, load and unload of CNC Mill preferably HAAS equipment
Ability to read and interpret drawings
Advanced arithmetic skills required; minimum high school diploma or GED equivalent
Ability to perform visual inspection
Ability to use precision measuring devices such as calipers, pin gauges and optical comparator

  • Basic knowledge of CNC machine controls, i.E., G functions
  • Should have basic CNC programing knowledge and the ability to program simple parts with the ability to learn how to use engineering drawings to create a CNC programm.
Effective written/verbal communication skills and computer skills (Windows, Microsoft Office).
Knowledge of optical glass handling and inspection including iteration of scratch, dig, chip, and edge finish requirements
Good manual dexterity to handle optical glass as well as operate computers and complex machinery
Good organization skills and the ability to function with minimal supervision
Good teamwork, communication and interpersonal skills - a demonstrated commitment to company values
Able to lift up to 30 lbs
